Winning Women Worldwide Rejuvenates Old Bags!
Ladies from various Winning Women branches and other volunteers from around the Greater Manchester area have been busy knitting... but not with wool as you might expect. Viv Richmond, W.W.W. Denton branch leader, was shown by a colleague how to knit a Bag for Life from used Carrier Bags. Viv is passionate about recycling and thought this was a wonderful idea but Viv being Viv took it one step further and realised she had come across a great way of raising cash for WWW work overseas.
The word soon went around that Viv needed used carrier bags and before long she had them in abundance. Where ever she went you would find Viv knitting, in the car (not while she was driving, of course), in the kitchen, at the doctors, on holiday. Viv found that people loved her knitted bags and asked how they could get hold of one. This is where the fundraising came in. Viv started to raffle her bags at work, in church and at Mums and tots and is thrilled with the response she has had.
If you are interested in buying, raffling or auctioning a bag at your place of work or church event, please contact Viv Richmond on 07974997978 or emailviv.richmond@ntlworld.com |
